Digital Signage 101

The true power of digital signage is its ability to deliver high-impact, relevant messages to targeted audiences when it counts.

Screen

Dynamic signage, In-store TV, Narrowcasting, Branded Media, whatever you may call it, Digital Signage is becoming an increasingly critical part of business today. From retail to hospitality to education, organizations of all types need the ability to reach a target audience with relevant messaging. The effectiveness of mass media is falling due to technologies like DVR and a population that is desensitized to mass advertising. Customers now demand that the messages they see be relevant and timely to grab their attention.

Digital signage is a medium that allows you to deliver content of any type to any number of end points efficiently and effectively. Because the platform is digital you can target messaging to individual signs based on schedules and event triggers - whenever and wherever it’s needed.

Whether you need to promote this week’s big sale, drive visitors to the hotel restaurant, or present local information on a college campus, digital signage systems give you flexible control to reach your audience.

The Advantage of Networked Digital Signage

Why should you go digital? After all, isn't it more expensive and complicated?

Digital signage systems can not only be more cost effective, but offer many advantages over traditional static print signage and DVD based systems.

  • Eliminate printing, distribution and installation costs
  • Ability to change content nearly instantaneously
  • Reuse the same physical space to deliver multiple messages
  • Draw more attention and deliver more effective messaging with motion and light
  • Increased recall compared to static signage*
  • Update and trigger media with relevant content
  • Eliminate physical distribution of signs and content

Management Software

For every sign system there is a tool or series of tools used to schedule content, create layouts and maintain your signage network. The software can exist as a package which is installed on specific computers (similar to installing a product like Microsoft Office) or as web based tools accessible from multiple locations/users. FrameWorks DS provides a non-hosted option for management of the sign on the player itself or on multiple players via a local-area-network.
